Terms and Conditions

Megaplates.net  offers an advertising service for individuals wishing to sell their valued number plates. We are an intermediary between the buyer and seller. We endeavour to use our extensive resources to find the ideal number plate for you or to sell your plate.

General

A. Some Registration Marks are subject to VAT. All Registration Marks sold are subject to Department of Transport fee. It is illegal to display the New Registration Mark before the transfer is completed by The Department of Transport.

B. All Registration Marks are sold subject to availability and although megaplates.net check out the availability of every registration mark before selling, they cannot accept any responsibility should the registration become unavailable.

C. The registration mark seller undertakes to notify megaplates.net immediately in the event of withdrawal of the registration mark from sale.

D. In the case of a registration mark held on a retention or entitlement certificate where the registration mark seller wishes to transfer entitlement rights directly from such a document, the registration mark seller agrees to pay the prescribed nominee addition and certificate renewal fees as necessary in order to complete the transfer, promptly to the Department for Transport through DVLA Swansea.

E. Any full or part payment taken on a registration mark is non-returnable (unless the transfer cannot proceed due to the default of the donor or failure of the transfer at Vehicle Registration Office level). If part payment is taken at the point of sale the balance will be due within 14 days unless alternative payment arrangements were made and confirmed by megaplates.net in writing. Failure to pay the balance within the time limits will result in the forfeit of any monies paid and the Registration Mark will be placed back on the market.

F. Your rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 will be lost on accepting a contract to purchase any Registration Mark.

G. Prices subject to change without notice. Although megaplates.net make every attempt to assure the prices advertised are correct, the occasional mistake can occur.

H. We sell Registration Marks owned by clients and from our own list of plates which is in our stock.

I. The purchaser of a registration mark must submit correct documentation within four weeks of purchase of a registration mark, if they require megaplates.net to transfer the registration mark to their vehicle. If the vehicle documentation is not received or is in any way incorrect, megaplates.net reserves the right to place the registration mark on a retention document and recover any said cost from the purchaser.

J. Should the transfer fail due to the default of the purchaser in any way, including not paying the balance or supplying the necessary documentation, megaplates.net will not be liable for any payment to the seller, but we will, with their permission, put it back on the market for sale.

K. Many Registration Marks can be supplied on a Certificate of Entitlement within 3-5 working days, but other types of transfer can take 4-6 weeks and all transfers can take up to 12 weeks. It should be understood that where we are advertising a Mark for a private seller, the Mark is held by the seller until the transaction is complete, and not by megaplates.net thus slow action on the part of the seller may occasionally cause delay.

L. Once a transfer has been authorised by the Department of Transport (DVLA Swansea), all liabilities will be rescinded by megaplates.net. It is the sole responsibility of the Purchaser to ensure that the correct details are entered when purchasing a registration mark when speaking to a representative of megaplates.netmegaplates.net. Phonetics should be used when referring to a registration mark, as many letters of the alphabet sound similar on the phone due to accents and voice variations.

M. The Registration Mark cannot be used to make a vehicle look younger than it actually is, for example, ‘X’ prefix marks can only be assigned to vehicles first registered as new on or after the 2001.

N. The Registration Mark must be displayed correctly. Some of the Registration Mark on this site may not be displayed legally. To mis-space or mis-represent the letters and numbers in any way is an offence under the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001. Subsequently all registration marks sold by megaplates.net are sold on the understanding that The Number Plates will be displayed in accordance with Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.

O.  Megaplates.net cannot accept responsibility for delays or errors caused by the postal system, e-mail, the Department of Transport, DVLA, any unforeseen circumstances or any failure or delay on the part of the donor or the receiving vehicles.P. Calls may be monitored for training purposes.
